the mayas time period is 2000bc to 1500ad. the mayas was located in the eastern one thrid of mesoamerica but mainly on the yucatan peninsula. the ten facts about the mayas are they are a group of related native american tribes who have the same linguistic organization. they also had a common artistic and religious components but not politically they were independent mayan states. there were many seperate groups with similar cultural background. the art of the maya reflected their lifestyle and culture. their art was composedof delineation and painting upon the paper building plaster,woood,stone,and clay. the reason for the downfall was unknown. the collapse of the maya has many explanations from the hypothese to single catastrophic events. the collapse of the maya remains one of the most intriguing events in human history. maya had a sophisticated system of writting it was developed in order to record their transitionof power through the generations. the mayan civilization is divided into three time periods which engulfed 3000 years ago. the civilization i choosed was the maya because i really wannaknow more about it then i already did before. during this assignment i noticed that it made me know more about the mayas then i didnt even know till now.
